Summer School Teacher Temporary

Guadalupe Centers Charter Schools (GCCS) is seeking passionate and dedicated Summer School Teachers to foster academic and social growth in students from diverse backgrounds in an urban setting. The ideal candidates are goal-oriented, hardworking, and enthusiastic about working with children.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Create a safe and positive classroom environment conducive to learning.
• Implement instructional activities that engage students in the learning process.
• Utilize ESL strategies and scaffolding techniques to support English Language Learners (ELLs) across all WIDA levels.
• Identify and implement instructional resources and strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners.
• Maintain effective record-keeping procedures to document student progress.
• Collaborate with colleagues to enhance curriculum implementation.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and community members.
• Serve as a positive role model, demonstrating professional and ethical standards.
• Assess student progress and provide feedback to students, parents, and administration.
• Participate in professional growth opportunities.
• Attend meetings and contribute to Individual Education Plans (IEPs) or 504 Plans.
• Implement modifications and accommodations for students with special needs.
• Demonstrate cultural competence and the ability to meet diverse instructional needs.
• Manage student behavior to ensure a safe and optimal learning environment.
• Respond to emergencies to ensure student safety.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to working with underserved students.
• Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary or Secondary Education.
• Missouri State Certification in Elementary or Secondary Education.
• Two to four years of experience in a classroom setting.
• Experience in an urban school setting is preferred.
• Bilingual ability preferred (English required, Spanish preferred).

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the school and classroom.
• Ability to lift to 15 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to access and navigate all areas of the school and other facilities as needed.
