Summer Reading Teacher in Philadelphia Temporary

The Institute of Reading Development is seeking passionate and dedicated teachers to lead our summer reading enrichment programs. These programs are designed to inspire a love of reading while developing essential reading skills in students of all ages, from 4-year-olds to adults.

Key Responsibilities:

• Teach engaging reading classes in both online and in-person environments.
• Foster a positive and supportive learning atmosphere.
• Build critical reading skills and instill a lifelong appreciation for reading.

What We Offer:

• Comprehensive paid training and ongoing support.
• Up to 200 hours of hands-on teaching experience.
• Flexible teaching schedules, including full-time and part-time options.

Teaching Schedule and Commitment:

• 10 weeks of teaching.
• All schedules include teaching on both weekend days.
• Entry-level position with room for growth.

Training Options:

• Full-Time Training: A 3-week, Monday-Friday program immediately preceding the teaching schedule.
• Part-Time Training: An independent study program tailored for current full-time teachers.

Ideal Candidates Will:

• Possess strong reading skills and enjoy reading fiction for pleasure.
• Be responsible, hard-working, and well-organized.
• Communicate effectively and confidently.
• Be comfortable using technology in a classroom setting.
• Hold a bachelor’s degree or higher.
• Exhibit patience, energy, and a supportive attitude toward students and parents.
