Elementary and Middle School Camps-Aquinas Academy Summer Temporary

Title: Aquinas Academy Summer-Elementary and Middle School Camps (Part-time)

Year: 2024-2025 Summer (Hours vary depending on classes)

Supervisors: Principal and Advancement Team, St. Thomas High School

FLSA: Exempt

Offerings – to be determined by teacher interest

• Session I – June 16-20 (No class on June 19)
• Session 2 – June 23-26
• Session 3 – July 7-10
• Session 4 – July 14-17

The position includes duties as a classroom teacher, department curriculum owner, and active contributor to the overall growth of students at St. Thomas High School.

Required Experience and Essential Job Functions

This position requires a professional who

• Holds a bachelor’s degree, or above
• Has completed 12 credit hours in education courses or holds a valid state teaching certificate
• Health is not an online course. The teacher’s responsibility during Health will be to work with the Dean of the Department to plan lessons and provide appropriate assignments for the students.
• The teacher will be responsible for answering student questions, actively monitoring students’ progress, and communicating concerns to parents and the Campus Activities Director.
• Teachers will plan and prepare detailed lesson plans for their classes for each summer session.
• Lessons should include an appropriate balance of independent and teacher-directed activities with a broad range of experiences.
• The teacher will practice and promote positive interactions with and among students and other teachers and establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a safe and functional learning atmosphere.
• Is passionate about teaching
• Supports and implements the philosophy of Catholic education
• Possess highly effective classroom management and time management skills
• Provide feedback and assessment grading to students within the time frame set forth by the department
• Use instructional time efficiently and effectively
• Willing to be reflective and to work collaboratively
• Eager to embrace new challenges
• Willing to coach and to be coached
• Openly enthusiastic and optimistic

Required Qualifications: Have prior teaching

Compensation: Pay rates begin at $45/hr depending on the class size and teaching experience. Pay rates are not negotiable.
