Summer Reading Teacher Part Time Temporary

CBA is seeking a reading teacher to teach a six-week intensive reading summer program from June 23 – Aug. 1, 2025, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and noon. The ideal candidate will be a creative, engaging, and innovative educator who has a strong passion for teaching reading and a deep interest in supporting differently-abled learners. Specialized training in Wilson, Orton-Gillingham, Lindamood-Bell, or NILD is preferred.

This position reports to the director of Summer Enrichment.

Salary: $2,600 (6 wk program: June 23 – Aug. 1)

Duties & Responsibilities

• Serve as a teacher for students in grades 1-6 in a rotation as pre-determined by the reading specialist
• Submit progress reports to parents at the middle and end of the program
• Work with reading specialist to create lessons tailored to meet individual student needs
• Select appropriate books, media, and instructional resources
• Select and implement apps and other software to support instruction
• Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicate objectives to students
• Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining an environment conducive to learning for all students

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a state-approved teacher preparation program
• VA teacher certification with an endorsement in reading and a minimum of three years of successful teaching experience preferred
