Summer Camp Educator Full Time Temporary NEW

The Museum of Discovery and Science seeks engaging and enthusiastic Summer Camp Teachers to supervise and instruct campers (grades K- 4). Camps are offered weekly throughout the summer with new themes each week. Topics are fun, age-appropriate, and exciting for youth while being rooted in STEAM learning.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and supervise campers in weekly summer camps with new and exciting STEAM-based themes
• Create fun, age-appropriate, and hands-on learning experiences for youth (ages 5-11)
• Conduct programs in various settings, including Museum exhibit halls, Classrooms, Outdoor Science Park
• Limited off-site field trips
• Foster joyful, engaging experiences that inspire curiosity and learning
• Participate in paid virtual and on-site training (may include evenings and weekends)

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in life science, earth science, astronomy, engineering, or physical science (preferred) OR equivalent professional experience
• Experience teaching and/or working with children required
• Background in inquiry-based and experiential learning a plus
• Previous experience in science/nature camp settings preferred

Skills & Abilities:

• Comfort with public speaking and performance
• Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
• Ability to multi-task and manage time efficiently
• Creative problem-solver who works well both independently and as part of a team
• Flexible, highly dependable, and thrives in a fast-paced, high-energy environment
• Ability to work with diverse audiences

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to navigate building and outdoor grounds in all weather conditions
• Ability to lift and move supplies up to 50 lbs.
• Comfortable working in a sensory-rich, interactive environment

Additional Requirements:

• Must pass Level II background checks (per Museum guidelines)
• First Aid, CPR & AED certification preferred

Salary: $22 per hour
